I think its inevitable because supposing we all protest here in the West and the government was to stop all non narrow AI.China would just go ahead and do it and the result would be the same for the world. Its like nuclear weapons protesting wont uninvent them. Its the same we cant remap human will and intelligence and people are always gonna strive to invent the next big thing plus Sam Altman is obviously a megalomaniac so theres that.
