Same old, same old. Every worker shortage needs to be appended with "at the prices we want to pay". That said, keeping jobs that can be automated isn't a good plan. Is there anyone suggesting we should stop selling clothes- and dish-washers because so many people could be doing it by hand? It's the same thing, and only slightly sillier. Those jobs were not necessary to employ people. More Perfect Union is better off pursuing better labor conditions and training for jobs that remain or arise; a UBI when that plan is running into obstacles. Perhaps lean in to the "population collapse" so fewer workers are available and the people left are valued more.
