Okay i'm gonna put it simple, I don't care if Artists lose their jobs because their skillset gets automated away. What i care about is that that only happens when we don't lose anything from it. I'm a consumer of art I don't care about the production part of it, some people will always for (imo) nonsensical reasons care about having a human hand beind the art and artists can cater to those. It is a fact that technology keeps advancing, horses used to be the primary long distance form of locomotion, now we ride for fun adapt, evolve and overcome. Artists arguments aren't helped when they keep propagating falsehoods. 1. "it's theft" no it's simply not, if it were all the lawsuites would end in a different way now would they. --> Work towards changeing the law and modernizing it so you can get residuals etc instead of whalowing in selfpity... 2. It's just copying, it's just a collage. Again no it's not, it's physically impossible for that to be the case. The trained model is far far far smaller than even lossy much less loss less compression of the training data could achive. If you don't wanna call it learning sure whatever flaots your boat but the algorithm resulting from the training process is something far more sophisticated than just "save it to a database and make pretty collages with too any fingers" TL;DR I'm a consumer i care about the product. If you can provide a service AI can't you have job security, if you can't you don't. It's the same for every job, we didn't really anticipate it would be manual labor that's likely to be the last large group to go (other than some niches etc) but that's how it looks to be. The AI revolution is just like the industrial one, you wont stop it. I'm sick and tired of artists thinking they're somethign special and their precious field of work needs to be protected. It affects literally EVERY non manual labor job. Artists, coders, surgeons, lawyer, bus drivers, pilots at least start including those people in your arguments (as more than a footnote) if you wanna make any sense to people outside of your bubble.
