Hinton when speaking of AI, in terms of word choices and sentence structure often seems to portray or at least seems to imply (BTW - keeping AI mysterious adds to the wild theories and fears), AI as having some kind of will or soul - or will at some point reach that. In one sense that is partly true, but AI in of itself does not possess that soul. Rather, it’s its masters, either its creators or its users or both where that “soul” eminates from. In other words, AI is imaging human beings - but it’s more mimickery than imaging. This is the real danger of AI. It can be used for both good and bad - just like nuclear fusion can be used to build either power stations or nuclear bombs. The real issue is sinful human beings. I know the modern world does not like the word “sin” - so let me re-phrase it like this; the real issue is “bad” human beings. Now the real question is what who and how are these “bad” actors being energised, manipulated and activated. In other words who’s pulling their strings. Capitalism, communism, greed, selfishness, corruption… on and on the list can go with ideologies and beliefs. A much better question is what can be done? What should be done? Is there Hope? Yes - there is hope, and it’s Jesus Christ who is the exact image and likeness of God - He is God, and he imaged God perfectly as humans beings are supposed to and called to and made to image God on earth - in other words all of His attributes in terms of living in and on and managing this planet (Edenic mandate). This is where heaven meets earth, and yes we can have heaven on earth, and there will be heaven on earth one day. We really need to know more about this concept of imaging. God bless us all.
