Having used a fair amount of AI at work. We are nowhere near these doomsday scenarios anymore than Matthew Broderick was to starting WW3. Management needs to put the crack pipe down and see the actual product themselves. They are overly impressed by it because they cannot actually do the grunt work themselves.
Management is full of MBAs selling us all on IT from India being better than IT from the US because of (insert FOMO 🐂 💩 reason) when the real reason is it costs less. Corporate management is good 🐂 💩 ers but LLMs are NOT AI. LLMs are pattern recognition software and like all software ever made in Human history still doing exactly what it was told to do.
Personally, I am not scared of AI launching nukes but am scared I could get laid off to save a buck. Which I thinks is what most of us are scared of with AI.
