AI is in a historic bubble atm, it will pop and it will be bad, poor people will be the ones holding the bag, as always. Capitalism will have another catastrophic failure, the world economy will return to some degree of centralisation and the cycle will repeat of companies and oligarchs whittling away guard rails just for this to happen all over again. Alternatively, we will regress to Neo feudalism, or people will realise that this whole capitalism thing doesn’t give power to the people and we hopefully move forward into something better. I think the first two options are more likely at this point, given the utter complacency and inaction of people in the first world. And if that option is chosen, we need not wait for world war 3 to be eradicated, the climate will do that for us. I am not a doomer stfu, this is all relatively predictable and based on consistent patterns that have emerged from scientific, economic, and historical data, both qualitative and quantitative. I urge each of you to take action in local politics, the problem is never your neighbours, it is the system. But we can only change that system as ants moving grains of sand to build the pyramids of Giza. That does not make your contribution useless. After all, ants follow other ants… Good luck y’all, third world is watching :)
