I am wondering how AI is gonna write unit and regression tests. That monkey prompter that does not know coding won't be able to write specs for that, certainly not for all required cases. And without those tests any software is extremely vulnerable. There will be no defense against deterioration of the earlier created features or the app entirely. Who is gonna be rewieing pull requests if there is no expertise there? Just automerge and hope for the best? And it cannot be some minimal knowledge reviewer either. People are not machines, there is large cost in terms of induction and expertise level required for getting to the sufficient degree of understanig of huge codebases. Some software engineere are never even get to the point where they are good enough to review beyond the syntax and class body and into the level of design. How AI is gonna achieve that? And what about debuggin, or profiling or everyone's favourite integration and environmental issues of running the software? How AI is meant to learn what we ourselves are struggling with due to high degree of non-determinism?
