The issue isn't the behavior of the AI, it is our human behavior in reaction to seeing these crazy outcomes from the AI models (lying, pretending, hiding things when we are looking etc.). This is from inferior dumber systems and we see these behaviors. Our reaction to it is basically: " Huh, isn't that neat? Let's do things as is & build a more powerful model." Where does a pattern like that lead? No one knows for sure but if we are not extremely careful, we are going to find out only when it is far too late.
