Love your posters! One of the techbros talking about the tar pits had the AUDACITY to say that the tar pit is bad for the environment since the AI that gets stuck runs around in it for weeks expending energy for no reason. And it's like: the sites that employ tar pits have written a digital "no trespassing" sign into their code. The AI company ignored that warning, and got exactly what they had coming. They're doing the digital equivalent of waltzing onto someone else's property and then complaining that the owner shot them and sicced their dogs on them for trespassing. On the topic of the environmental impact: not nearly as much water is wasted on coolant as we were initially led to believe. I'm not saying I condone AI because it turns out the cooling systems recycle their own coolant without needing to have it refilled, but I wouldn't keep bringing that point up specifically, because the pro AI ghouls will focus on that as a means of delegitimizing the entire case against generative AI by framing the people who bring it up as uneducated. My sister only recently started publishing her art, and she waffles between glazing and shading her work. Sometimes she does both, and other times it's one or the other, since her computer takes up to two hours just to glaze or shade a single piece at times. "No economic value" huh? Why'd you scrape 'em then? Shouldn't you have sought out better art to steal for profit? Except that companies like Disney and Nintendo, who only got as big as they did because their art and stories were well protected from theft, would never allow that to fly, and they'd bury anyone who tried if they think that's what it'd take. Another thing about AI stans is you're absolutely right about them not being tech savvy. AI is for people who don't know how to use computers, whether that's coding or mucking about in MS Paint.
