I live in Indiana. A few weeks ago the Republicans in office hired an outside group to poll Hoosiers across the state…and the results were striking!
This is a deeply conservative state with a Republican supermajority in every government chamber. People here elected Trump by double digits. Yet the results of this poll showed that over 50% are unhappy with Trump, nearly 60% said they are dissatisfied with our new governor, and 49% think Republican leaders are out of touch with constituents.
As a result, Indiana’s GOP defied Trump and voted against redistricting the state map and Trump supporters are showing up in droves to protest AI data centers.
As a liberal and a gay man, it’s never difficult to find reasons to criticize Indiana, but there are signs that changes are happening here and I’m glad to see it. Long overdue!
