We are a bit too late for solutions now...seems even the pioneering country in capitalism had a government who didn`t understood it for years. Let me try to explain what I want to say. US has founded a lot of startups during the last century with all the support they need (investing in universities and other funding programs, grants and loans, etc.). A lot of those startups have succeeded and are the biggest companies in the world today...how did the government benefited from that? Zero. It would have been very interesting for the gov to own let`s say 15% of each of those companies (not with decision power however - the gov shouldn`t have the right to vote and intervene in any way in the company journey). Now, the gov could have simply benefited from the AI boom by just having it`s fair cut of the profits being made now or in the future. And with that, the government could simply take care of the ones losing their jobs. I`m not living in the US but this is just my humble opinion on how things should be done in any capitalist country without cause too much disturbance. Think of it this way - you want to succeed, have a wonderful business and become billionaire? We as a government will 100% support you with everything you need, but in return, in case you someday be successful we will own a small portion of your business WITHOUT having the right to intervene in it.
