I’m trying to remain pretty neutral on the whole ai “art” debate, mostly siding towards it not being art. But a really compelling argument i’ve heard in defense of ai “art” is comparing it to the invention of photography. (idk if this is true or not) Photography was shunned for by artists, claiming it’s not fair for people to instantly create portraits and sceneries relatively instantly(please tell me if this incorrect). I feel like ai “art” is the next step in humanity’s artistic evolution. Ai art also has been following the trend of bland, lazy art. Before ai “art” we had modern art, which is notoriously bad and it mainly focuses on creativity and performance as a basis for it being “art”. On the other hand ai “art” is replacing digital art, which has been the main consumption of art for decades. Honestly, i can see the appeals court taking the case, and sort of establishing another way to launder money and prevent rich people from paying taxes(just like how modern art is used for today). Literally like elite NFT’s.
