Asmogold's statement made me really angry. The most ignorant, brainless thing he could say and not only does he say it ,but he says it with "Go find a new job artists. This software that's stealing all your work? It's going to replace you. You just want clout on twitter and I'm actually trying to help you." No, no he isn't. He's a dipsh*t that doesn't understand creativity isn't about getting bigger numbers on twitter. Art isn't content. Art is made for a variety of reasons and a lot of it is passion and desire or drive to create something or to evoke a feeling in someone. I don't know why so many people don't get this. We're not just doing this to make pictures. We're doing this because art is rooted in many people, it's creating worlds and fun things. Yes, some of it's goofy nonsense, some of it is lewd and some of it is meme-y. But people creating isn't just cr*pping out content for social media- or you know, for AI companies to scrape. Every post Shad makes is a defense of AI which the company's themselves have admitted in court are theft. They take countless images and in their own words have said they can't credit, compensate or give anything back to these people they steal from. Literally saying that they can't do what they're doing without access to all this copy written pieces. The devs, themselves, say this. But Shad knows better because he's 'an artist who doesn't draw' when in reality he's a schmuck who wants to make images of his girl without the effort of drawing and instead demotes himself to photo editor. Keeps claiming that he does 1-4+ hours of work on a piece. Ok. Good for you. You can drive 2-3 hours to a restaurant to buy a meal but you sure as heck can't claim you made it. He doesn't want to learn to draw, he doesn't like drawing. But that doesn't mean you can claim to have made something. I don't care if you put 2-3 hours into photomanipulating something, that's not artistic skill. That's basic photoshop knowledge. You don't want to learn how to fix your car? Ok fine. But also you can not claim to be a car enthusiast and mechanic when you get all your repairs done by someone else. You didn't restore that car, you didn't tune the engine. You 'had a vision' yes you knew what you want and the AI generated it for you and you photoshopped it some more to fit this 'vision'/request. This is like claiming you made a pic when all you did was took it from someone's twitter then photoshopped it. "Look mah, I'm an artist!" I'm literally watching a streamer, UWOSLAB, right now- painting a picture on canvas, on stream. Is he an artist? No- he's a former NASA engineer, but he's painting along with Bob Ross and learning how to do it. Talking about what Bob is doing and figuring things out. The guy is 100x the artist Shad is and I'm not sure UWOSLAB has ever done this before. Edit: Why don't artists enjoy just drawing straight lines or painting a wall on a house as much" This angered me to a primal level. Because that is busy work. Painting a wall is not being an artist- unless they're actually painting something on said wall like scenery or a person or a mural of some kind. I draw to create characters with backstories and make worlds. Do I enjoy 100% of it? No backgrounds are miserable and they're a scheme for the devil to drive artists mad- but everything else is wonderful. If you don't enjoy drawing? Then- you don't enjoy being an artist. IDK what to tell you. I can't believe these words come out of his mouth and he's trying to insist artists are the ignorant ones when he says so much priovably false things - MEANWHILE not even understanding why people like to create. In his eyes? Art isn't creative, it's not expression nor is it even really art. Art to Shad and Asmongold? Is content. It's just content to be consumed and gobbled down without any consideration. They see it as a means to gain likes, raise numbers, get clout and nothing more. And it's why their opinion on art does not matter, because they can't even understand what it is or accept why actual, artists are doing it. Shad 'paints' himself, or generates himself as a sophisticated intellectual but he can't even wrap his empty head around "You didn't make this, you edited it, you are not the artist." or for those pics he DID draw "You did a concept and had the AI finish it for you, you are not the artist. You gave the idea for something else to do it for you." Clients have sent me rough sketches that I turned into finished pieces. Are they an artist or did they get credit for the final piece? No. They don't. You want a custom paint job for the car you brought in and you got a reference? Cool- don't take credit for the custom artwork on the car because you didn't do it.
