In the end it's a deeply capitalistic problem, as he has pointed out indirectly. As long as there are people, in the position to decide things, who see money in the progress of AI, the progress will continue. Nobody thinks about a scenario, where humans are not 'necessary' any more as a real possibility. The top will always think of being invulnerable until they have to learn, they aren't. But then it's too late.
Interesting questions to be solved in this domain are: What is consciousness, what is a soul, what is real value. Because we can't eat money, we cannot communicate with money, we cannot hug it, it can't give us love.
