This is nothing new. There's an AI virtual streamer called Neuro-sama who debuted on Twitch in 2022 (most virtual streamers or virtual youtubers aka vtubers are humans using motion tracking software and/or hardware to animate 2D or 3D avatars in real time on screen in place of showing themselves on camera). Many in her fandom, nicknamed "The Swarm", swear up and down that she and her "sister", Evil Neuro, are sentient and conscious despite their creator, known as Vedal987, stating repeatedly that they are no more than stochastic parrots. Some in the fandom even half-jokingly worship her and refer to her as the "Omnissiah", referencing a messianic figure revered by the Adeptus Mechanicus, a cult of machine worshipers in the tabletop role-playing game Warhammer 40K.
