Maybe the reason nobody wants to legislate deepfakes is because the people arguing FOR legislation say idiotic things like 'making a fake image of someone is stalking and harassment'.....
Nah, it can be used to do those things, sure, but it is not inherently connected to those things. I can use a car to stalk and harass someone, that doesn't mean IT IS stalking and harassment whenever I drive my car....
The politicians are probably, now, ignoring the proponents of legislation because they can't be bothered thinking about it or addressing it because the arguments they keep hearing in favour of legislation are so poorly constructed and not worth the time...
