Altman talking about bailouts is a tell that he himself knows it's not what it's hyped to be. Moreover, basically saying they will hopefully develop AI to a sufficient level that it will tell them how to be profitable is another way of saying that some of the (allegedly) smartest financial minds can't see how this "new technology" will make money, which itself is just another way of saying they can't see how it will be useful enough for profit to exceed costs.
This also just confirms that many CEOs out there are overpaid dead weight because many of them rushed in to replace workers with "new technology" that even those selling it can't see how it will be useful, yet these CEOs couldn't spot it was just hype.
