20% of the customer service agents in the call center I worked for (for 5 years) were just let go in June (2025). It wasn't in the news, but it is a company that every American would recognize its' name. Interestingly, we had just been given chat GPT to work with and we were told it was going to make our job so much easier! I don't need an AI to understand that math! All things considered, I'm afraid to ask chat GPT what my odds are of finding a new job . . . but I don't have to ask it what happens when I can't pay my bills 😥
