im a dev. I have to say.. AI is pretty amazing. Not only does it code well (in the hands of a skilled dev).. it can also make decisions on strategy.. it definitly helps with efficency and some best paths for dev.. but its not a human skills blanket replacement .. far from it... SO, it shouldn't be removing juniors from work.. it should just be raising the bar and allowing those juniors to enter at a higher level of competency. if it isnt then its the CEOs to blame for not recognising that entry levels can do more today. They're likely busy telling their recruitment team that they dont need entry level because seniors can do entry work as well as their job with AI... but not realising that often juniors can do more too.. and seniors can do more as well.. we should be seeing cheaper production.. cheaper production should create more demand.. more demand should create more jobs.. maybe business/ceos are not looking at this tech correctly and its potential.. they absolutely should NOT be resisting hires of juniors. It will come back to bite them.. unless we suddenly get AGI.. but if that happens it will be so disruptive that quite likely it would wipe out their whole business.. because their own clients will be able to ask the AI for anything.. and likely that will include whatever answer to the problem their product is trying to solve. If companies start making decisions that will leave humans out or harm society.. then unfortunately we'll have to use the tax system strategically and proportionally against the use of AI.. same way we do against use of cheaper overseas labour. It shouldnt harm business.. if its done correctly. Instead currently we're seeing labour doing the opposite.. taxing human labour with NI whilst no proportional tax on AI. We dont want to slow or harm AI .. but we MUST ensure humans stay in the loop.. for now. And if we do get AGI.. then it we'll need a completely different model.. for society. A fair one! The AGI is very dangerous though. What we'll have is a human race totally dependent on AI for all skills/tech. If anything goes wrong.. we're just billions of totally unskilled defencless humans. We'd all die..
