I think the reason we don't have a real-life Rosie the Maid is simply that dealing with the messiness of unconstrained real-life environments is an extremely difficult problem. We're just starting to tackle it with things like self-driving cars, which really don't do very well yet. We'll probably get there eventually, but I don't think it's just around the corner.
