Art consumers aren’t as selective as (human) Artists hope they will be. When consumers can’t really tell the difference between human art and AI art, the game will be over. That day is coming. There won’t be any sustained boycott of AI output, there won’t be any sustained support of human artists. Our cultural affection for things “handmade” will fade in the Arts, just as they have for Industry. It seems abhorrent to us now, but will today’s toddlers have any of this nostalgia?
More likely, human Art will just become a pastime, like horseback riding or doing crossword puzzles.
I hear a lot of self-serving assumptions being made, possibly to protect our own egos. But is there really any special part of a human brain where “creativity” or “soul” lives, or do we just have a biological machine with its own peculiar limitations?
