I thought AI was fun, it was cool and fun until i found out that artists all over the world had their art stolen in an industry wide theft with the intention of disrupting the entire industry it stole from. It's gross. Plenty of AI has been built with ethics being a fundamental part of development it's so sad to see that this didn't have that consideration and instead went about it illegally to train this one so quickly and just as fast to monetize it. I See Adobe and other companies use "Art contests." to get artists to give up their rights to their art all the time and they get thousands of submissions they never have to pay for and this is so much worse because artists didn't have the choice. And somehow this company that understands the rights to music so well they would never dare deal with the DMCA's but when it comes to visual artists they don't care even a little about the original creators because it's easier to get away with the theft. And for everyone who wants to be an AI Aritst, i get it. Being able to produce something beautiful and calling it your own is a great feeling and one that you should be able to enjoy and share with others without guilt but when it's built on the foundation of stealing from others it should not be shrugged off as what's done is done. That sets a terrible president for the standards AI will have in the future of how companies choose to source data in the future. and not just AI but stealing data in general has been an issue for awhile and choosing not to care is what has gotten us to this point in the first place. I Would love to see what people can do with AI but not if it means enabling theft as a "norm" They need to be regulated and everyone should be able to understand that.
