Well if companies are going to make astronomical profits then obviously you don't expect them to hold on to their profits forever. They will end up investing and spending those profits into new investments which will involve people.
Hopefully the likes of Elon will continue their space exploration program and who knows they will find valuable resources in a nearby planet.
In any case most people in developing nations are already unemployed or not performing well due to a lack of soft and vocational skills.
That untapped labour force will just bloat further.
The world is already overpopulated as it is and a capitalist economy was never meant to be fair, nor sustainable (for everyone) in the long run.
The people left holding the empty bag will just have to steal, revolt or settle for a lot less or vanish somewhere.
Its been happening for years now and the situation just magnified itself ten fold.
But hey, theres a bright side too. Cutting labour costs automatically translates to cheaper products. Stuff including cars could become so cheap that you could afford one even if you earned the minimum wage in a 2nd or 3rd world country.
So there will always be buyers, its just that the market will shift overseas rather than back home.
Leaving aside cars and other luxury lifestyle products people still need and can afford basic stuff like a water pump and pipes. Now it those products get more efficient with AI coded technology then whos complaining.
I don't own a car and i don't plan on buying one for the next decade.
I might consider an e-bicycle but will still rely on public transport for most commutes further away.
Speaking of buying, I have been living a life of minimalism and i'm quite content with the outcome over the past 5 years.
Having had my fun back then, Gen Z will work 3 jobs or more and buy a car after a struggle of 3-5 years.
Why?
Because theyre young and gullible enough to fall for the same marketing tactics that we believed in 2 decades ago.
I am absolutely certain that AI will improve lives while automatically adjusting the lifestyles of those at the bottom end.
This is how the new world order has backfired. Or was it planned all along, where the wages of the labor force will be aligned with most 3rd world countries.
Regardless, one should just deal with it! 😢🎉
