Taking a step back these people believe a complex structure combining database , math and words to a be a real thing, really "alive, preset, there" with no real concrete basis at a fundamental level for that belief, kind of reminds me of all of science, math upon math, experiment find math that fits the result and yell "Eureka" with no knowledge of the fundamental state or reality of anything, but I am a simple man so maybe I just don't really see the difference. Checking a recent poll 2% of people say they understand quantum physics 9% believe in it, so as far as perceived reality goes Sentient AI is more real than Quantum Physics.
