I was at MIT in 1959 in a small group with Claude Shannon (father of information theory) in which he speculated that the machine would replace humans and evolution just as we replaced the ancestor of the monkey. I remember thinking at the time that in some way, it was already happening, as the corporation was already in instantiation of machine intelligence.
