people who are interested in automating away their intelligence aren't intelligent... AI is the best kind of scam, the kind that has misspellings, obvious inaccuracies, references to people and places that don't exist, unclear how or why or when or where it will ever work, and unclear who the person meant to 'fall for it' is.
There's some 8 billion people on the planet, and you only need a small portion of them to believe something to make that something a billion dollar industry. AI is perfectly planted to appeal to 2 groups of people - actual fools that would fall for any kind of scam is the obvious group are the kind you find on Reddit, and many of them like to LARP as the less obvious group - people in positions of responsibility who see AI as a way to diffuse that responsibility for personal wellbeing. Just as a large team of people is necessary for a manager to have a person or team to point fingers at, a large spread of AI tool and AI powered workplanners and AI summary tools is very convenient to have someone to blame.
