I can't even get my department manager to input software so we can remotely reach our users in our domain and I'm supposed to be afraid a robot is going to come in to my county job and take it from me? I completely understand that AI is a very real threat to jobs but I also think that as someone who works in a small town, things in these places are still very very low. These people cannot handle computers doing anything for them, they bend over backwards for humans to be present for in person help. For that reason, I have to think that while surely the big cities might move to AI quickly, I can say with certainty that small towns will not be switching to AI over humans any time soon. Certainly NOT in two years. Probably not even in 10. This is the first time I've ever been thankful that boomers and Gen X are so stubborn. :D
Now, if AI decides to just blow us up, that's another story and imo more probable than the latter.
