It's not like one day you wake up and billions of people are jobless all at once. AI is just another technology that will enable more automation. Automation in the workplace has been happening for years and gradually. Think about banks; online banking has been around for more than a decade and bank branches have been closing gradually. Online shopping has been around for a long time and yet, shops still exists. What about emails? Have they completed replaced letters in paper and make the postal service completely redundant? What about the Kindle then? Paper books are still around. Also, why would create something that can wipeout humankind and let it free in the world? They have not done that with the atomic bomb, have they? In fact, they have not connected the systems which control the lunch of atomic bombs or other waepons of mass destruction to the internet; i remember reading on an article that they were using old, simple and isolated operating systems that would not crash like windows or iOS
