This is why we must protect people, not jobs. “We need to stop AI, it’s gonna take our jobs and make us miserable.” Really? If we can wipe out boring, exhausting, repetitive work, then let’s do it. Productivity goes up, costs go down, and we could easily cover everyone’s basic needs while focusing on innovation and jobs that actually matter.
But no. Capitalism says it’s the only answer to everything. We already produce more than enough food for everyone — yet we can’t give it away, because it would “devalue” the product. That’s sick. We could have it all, but some people would rather cling to the thrill of competition than let humanity move forward.
