Ye... these companies and politicians need to spend 5 minutes looking at the nord threat map. What do you get if you have an economy underpinned by driverless vehicles? You get a new battleground for electronic warfare. Want to cripple the US economy, wait until the manned trucking services go bust, even help fund automation innovation, until so there is no fallback option, then take down the systems running road logistics, now you have empty supermarkets and entire communities starving. Wont even need to fire a single weapon to conquor a nation, and it is still cheaper than actual war.
