The pandemic showed just how many jobs can actually be done remotely from behind a screen.
Looking ahead, it’s becoming clear that as automation advances, our current societal structure won’t be able to function in its existing form.
In the transitional phase, quickly finding a new specialization – for example, in skilled trades – might help. But that’s far from easy, and we should avoid looking down on such professions with arrogance.
In the long run, automation will fundamentally reshape many aspects of life and work. Without political regulation and proactive governance, this transformation will not succeed.
