I think where a lot of people aren't getting artists is the fundamental misunderstanding of how AI art is being used. Literally no one cares about it being used in the first place, it's not an issue, the issue is that the art is being monetized. It takes away jobs from real artists and also can be used to create a legal loophole in copyright in selling art designed to mock a real artist's style. The point of copyright is to prevent people from just will-nilly using whatever properties and art they want without giving proper credit to and paying an artist for their work, and people are essentially using that to get around it. If people just used it for fun, I doubt anyone but an elitist would have a problem with it, the problem simply comes down to taking money from people who spent years developing genuine skill and talent.
