It is not the technology that you need to punish. Punish the culprits who misuse it. Some people who think making these kind of deepfake videos hurting feelings / sentiments of others are the real problem. This is NOT OK! Regulate how technology is used and PUNISH THE CULPRITS!!! Today Rashmika Mandanna is affected by this deepfake video. It was someone's sick fantasy. She is hurt. It's unfortunate. And she is right in what she said. I hope she takes legal action against those who are responsible. Now imagine if this deepfakes were used in heinous crimes like rape, murder ? Just think of the consequences. Those culprits will walk free. It will be very hard for the lawyers who are not familiar with technology to prove a crime happened or didn't happen. Even if they are familiar how are they even going to prove? They will have a tough time. Victim families will suffer. If something is not done quickly you can't even imagine consequences. There's a British TV show called " Capture " Just watch to understand what we are dealing with here. That TV show will definitely blow your mind. You are talking about replacing the face in the video while keeping the body. In that TV show CAPTURE that AI technology creates entire human being with body, saying things that real person wouldn't say, creates situation that never happened. It will make you believe that certain politician said those things but in fact he was tied up somewhere in the basement but for the country and whole world it will look as if he is saying racist things, hurtful stuff. Just watch that TV show. It has 2 seasons. That show is entirely about deepfakes. There will be a time where you can't even believe your own eyes. You will question reality. Until now I thought those kind of things happen only in TV shows but now its happening for real. If government doesn't regulate a technology like this, world will be plunged into chaos in no time. Or in the worst case if government uses this against their opponents? How will we common people know or do anything about it? I am not saying they will but "what if" they use it ? We are all finished then. Deepfakes are dangerous far more than we can imagine.
