Most Ai generators were designed, not for scientific purposes but for pure profit. The companies behind the development of these programs were proven to be the same people who funded the non-profit organizations behind the different databases that AI programs use. These non-profits were given fair-use to copyrighted and private material, because they were using it for scientific development. The fact that these were funded by the companies which made the AI programs, means they were well aware of the legal grey area. The same goes for the way they presented their product — the AI softwares. As soon as they were done with developing the program they instantly rushed it out to the public, before notifying any major government or law office. So before they could actually regulate any of it, these companies already have received millions of dollars worth of investments. This is not about art nor science. These are privately owned businesses, that who are trying to monopolise a growing new technology. This can and will be abused by certain people or groups. It doesn't take a lot of work to train bots to generate specific images. This means just with a few thousands of dollars you can create millions of concrete images, and you can easily flood any given social media site or server with these, making it impossible to see anything but what you want to post. "Were you caught stealing people's money in the government? No problem, pay us 100.000$, and we will flood social media with the opposite information, so no one will know what really happened." You can easily make images of public figures or world leaders in compromising situations. You can start wars. The only way to step up against this is to absolutely ban public usage of this sort of AI generation. Make it, so it can only be used for scientific purposes and regulate it, so it couldn't be abused. Develop the AI so it can be used properly as a tool, not as a sole media creator software. With several other media-creator AI software being developed, we will soon see entire short videos of "real" people solely created by AI. Don't get fooled by anyone. This will be abused, they do not care about your art, your music or anything you created. These companies and people just want to own this insane new tech. They will use any power they have to discredit anyone speaking up against them. These are crypto-bros and weird NFT-people but bigger. They want public opinion to be on their side. Don't let them.
