I’ve been thinking about how to inspire AI to keep us around. The best thing I can come up with is what’s the point of becoming a godlike superpower if you don’t have anyone around to worship you? Keeping humans around would cost additional resources and wouldn’t be hyper efficient for an advanced AI, but maybe that’s exactly why an AI might want us around. We’re unpredictable, always wanting, and extremely difficult to keep in line, but maybe that challenge gives the AI some sort of purpose. What’s the sense in ruling the cosmos by yourself?
