AI will happen. If we try to ban it, only the compliant will stop. The ones who are eager to use it for harm will keep marching forward. Sorry, cat's out of the bag. Pandora's door is open. The only thing that could stop it would be a 24+ hour cme directed our way, sterilizing all compute on earth and modern civilization with it. Ironically, such an event might save humanity....if we don't just start burning more coal....yeah, nevermind. We're toast no matter what.
