Wouldn't consciousness technically be AI writting it's own code?
If text AI can receive a text input (questions/tasks), run a code and then output text, and code is text (java for instance), then why can't it output code and then run it's own code?
It could perform this in a generational algorithm as well. Where it runs thousands of different codes and the one closest to the outcome is used as the parent for the next generation, untill it finds the most efficient program.
