AI as a field has had caution baked into it from decades of writers and philosophers alike putting the question of AI in our face over and over again. (think blade runner, Terminator and Superintelligence) other industries like robotics, defense, software engineering in general, chemicals, etc don't! which is why we dont have people resigning and warning about nukes, chemical weapons, drones and other automated systems. all these things exist today!
