All these doomsayers really are no different than all the investors and AI bros overselling AI as we know it today. AI can't properly replicate and improve itself recursively yet because they found that the more they try to learn using synthetic data generated by themselves the faster the model will collapse (see LLM Collapse) and AI as it exists now is just computer trying to predict the next word based on different weights, that's literally it there's nothing mystical about it.
