I mean I understand the legal loophole they're using. Honestly most of this stuff is plagerisum, I mean if I take a printing press and make negative of an artwork I don't own. Then use that to sell copies of that art work, that's still stealing, AI doesn't make it any better it's just a different tool for the same situation. I hear similar arguments for AI 60fps animations the "it's here, deal with it" or the "it's better" kinda thing. Yet it seems to mostly come from people who stand to profit from it. I believe that AI art can be useful, heck AI is used in helping animators make animations. I don't think that we should be using AI art for commercial means, it would be a much better learning tool. Art schools using AI would be a nice use for it that I could see. I don't believe that AI art will be able to take over the art industry, it's too lifeless tbh. It does pose a threat to the art community, but it doesn't have heart, feeling, it's just an image and it seems like it could only ever be a lifeless cash cow. Art is about expression, maybe in a hundred years or so AI will be conscious and be able to express itself, however right now It doesn't.
