So of what he says, it’s true but some of it is a bit overreaching. The AI models today are not nearly as intelligent as a highschooler. Not even close. The AI models today middle school at best really elementary school. They are almost like first graders that can copy and paste. That’s pretty much it. They’re not inventing new ideas. They’re able to sift through a lot of information really fast simply because of the nature of computers, but they aren’t actually solving problems. New problems unless we programmed the AI itself. It can’t do anything that we haven’t taught it to do. No AI program out there today can actually learn something on its own. If we haven’t taught it math it won’t learn math if we haven’t taught it guess what it will not learn chess. We could tell AI to create a new game all on its own. Guess what it’s going to copy a bunch of games we’ve already created and make something out of them. It’s not going to truly think of something on its own.
Now the biggest threat regarding AI platforms right now is government or private businesses using AI to spy on you. For instance, what’s to stop a government like the former government of Iran from using AI to spy on all of the citizens? In the United States, we have a current president that said many in his opposition party are terrorist. He said many people are rigging elections. No proof to back up his claims, but what’s to stop him and his government from saying spy on them and using AI to do so. That’s the problem we face in America. It’s the fact that without limitations on what you can tell AI to do technically the government could say we think you’re a bad person let’s spy on you. I’ll give you an example that hits Home. I had a friend and her boyfriend was a police officer. This police officer boyfriend would use police hardware to spy on his girlfriend. Monitor her calls he would drive by the house and see where she was using government resources. What’s to stop someone else in government from using AI tools to simply spy on you? That’s the problem we face AI being used to do things that we don’t want it to do. Right now you don’t have to worry about AI growing and learning and deciding we all need to go. AI isn’t that smart that’s two generations from now that we got a long time before we hit those two generations without some major scientific breakthrough. But you do have to worry about people using AI inappropriately and rest assured we can’t wait to do it.
