As someone who has 'made' some AI art, I am fine with it as a tool, but not so much as a means for a final product. It's a toy. it's a reference, it's a muse, but rarely can I say it justifies itself as an end product (I mean, I like dankchungus's stuff), and I am a-ok with people poisoning the well.
As far as references go, I will still use AI as a reference, but moreso for ideas. I have used actual photographs and actual drawn art refs as well
