I'm a programmer and an artist and I want you to answer only one question: what is the difference between "Taking inspiration" and "Tracing"
My answer:
AI and computers are barely able to create new and unique things so most(if any) are unable to "Take Inspiration" from anything they receive.
And what AI does is just "Tracing" where it takes multiple pieces of media stick them together and hope to god it works.
It's worse for digital media because unlike Physical ones the raw form of these is just raw data that anyone can exploit.
And even in science one must obtain consent from the people it's affecting for it to be a legitimate scientific study doing otherwise is considered unethical human experimentation which is not good.
So unless these AI art "programmers" obtain consent from the people their taking art from and actually follow copyright laws, then I can't see them as anything but thieves and outlaws.
