Public roads and highways in the United States are one of the most highly regulated places in the country. How the roads are used? Who can use them? How they're licensed to use them. The vehicles that are used on them the safety equipment in the vehicles. All of these things are legally defined and there's entire police forces state by state that do nothing but enforce these regulations. As far as self-driving vehicles go, are there regulations that legally define what self-driving means? What type of equipment at a minimum must a vehicle have to be considered self-driving? What accountability or lack thereof will there be when vehicles that have the required equipment to be considered in self-driving cause accidents? Followers of the Tesla platform for self-driving vehicles no, that Tesla used to have a combination of visual camera input and radar -based input to determine what types of objects were in front of the vehicle as it transversed highways, parking lots, and so on. Tesla did decided the radar wasn't necessary and went to camera-based visual input only resulting in motorcyclists being killed by self-driving Teslas slamming into the back of them. Where can we find a link that lays out federal regulations for self-driving vehicles? (Spelling and grammar brought to you by voice to text feature)
