They spelled “hiring” wrong… Probably had their AI generate these slogans & didn’t bother to hire a fucking editor.
I do just want to remind people though— the problem is not the technology (AI, or automation robots, or anything else). The problem is not the existence of tools. The problem is *capitalism*. The capitalist class divide, which is utterly incompatible with the level of technological advancement our society has reached. It’s because capitalists own the means of production & the working class majority don’t that human workers are put in this insane position of having to *compete with machines for scarce jobs*— having to be in conflict with the tools that ought to be freeing us up from all undesirable labor & enabling us to make a living on far fewer hours, & to spend our time on things we actually WANT to do, that we care about.
It’s because there is a ruling class of non-worker owners who are compelled to maximize profits regardless of the consequences, who own the means/forces of production & deploy them in the way that most serves their interests, which is to maximize profits by simply replacing human workers, eliminating as many jobs as they can so they don’t have to pay wages out & can keep that much more for themselves as profits. And as the new technologies increase productivity as an accelerating rate, as this profit-maximizing practice eliminates almost all the jobs (especially decent-paying ones), in the context of an economy in which capitalists have already eliminated social safety nets & suppressed wages as low as they possibly can, such that each human worker effectively needs to find 60-80+ hours of work just to make ends meet & stY alive (basically having to do the work of two people because wages are so low & prices are gouged so high), it’s creating a tension that is rising rapidly & will have to be resolved one way or the other, as it’s utterly unsustainable & is bringing the system to the brink of collapse.
One resolution would be to go back to making concessions— accepting less than the ABSOLUTE MAXIMUM profit margins, redistributing a little wealth via social democratic programs similar to the New Deal, in order to stabilize the system & maintain the unjust class hierarchy (to keep us from revolting). That’s what FDR did back during the Great Depression, but the ruling class only caved & made concessions then because there were socialist & communist parties with millions of members & huge active worker-led labor unions, & they genuinely feared revolution if they didn’t accept some kind of social contract. The problem is, this is a band-aid— a temporary fix that doesn’t solve the underlying problem… Case in point, the New Deal was very successful while it lasted, but the ruling class always resented having to pay their fair share in taxes & not maximize their profits at our expense, so as soon as they crushed the left & the labor movement (at the end of the 1960s) & thought they could get away with it, they went back to chipping away at the New Deal, & by now those social democratic concessions are a thing of the last— since neoliberalism we are further right & more deregulated/privatized/austerity-ridden (for the poor, while giving trillions to the ultrawealthy/their corporations) than ever.
Or, we could actually abolish the class hierarchy & everyone could live as free, class-equal members of a just & democratic society wherein we could rationally direct the amazing technologies we already have towards meeting all human need & solving systemic crises like climate change, improving our world for everyone, without anyone being incentivized by a class hierarchy to profit at the expense of others… The only problem is that the ruling class will resist this tooth & claw, & they are making very clear right now that they are willing to go to very extreme lengths of violence to prevent this from ever happening. So we would need to organize on a really vast scale in order to ever achieve the good ending— on a scale where the working class can basically all stand together & refuse to keep working for their profit, carrying out revolutionary general strikes & assembling genuinely democratic committees/councils across the country/planet or something along those lines, in a scale where they simply CAN’T stop us, because they NEED workers in order for profits to continue being generated (even with AI, they need some number of AI technicians, electricians, & so on— there’s bo magic “out” that allows them to cut labor out of the picture altogether & still make money. Their profits are made off our backs. They need us more than we need them. So, possible, & it’s the only good path to strive for, but it’s realistically an uphill battle we need to be braced for.
Or, the only other outcome… They do what they’re clearly currently trying to do, with this transition to fascism in the U.S. & much of the neoliberal world. As inequality & injustice reach unprecedented extremes, as profit-seeking behavior leads to apocalyptic climate collapse, as the jobs all go away (which is because of automation & outsourcing by the ruling class, not the existence of immigrants/refugees— the idea that our society can’t handle a bit of population growth is just stupid & untrue) & so on, it becomes increasingly difficult to dupe people into believing the system is working for them (which is why at this point so many people were sympathetic to the United CEO assassin— because they’re reasonably fed up with a system that is screwing them at every turn & killing many of us). Capitalists like to maintain liberalism— the “human face of capitalism—“ to make it look like capitalism is compatible with human rights, freedom, “democracy” (though they don’t mean real democracy, they mean the plutocratic capitalist-dominated pseudo-republican system we actually suffer), etc…. But when things don’t go their way— when the market collapses & can’t pick itself back up, or when workers organize & start striking & standing up for themselves, when they organize left-wing anti-capitalist political parties & get involved in politics, when they start waking up to how the system actually works, that is the moment that liberal capitalism takes off the mask (as the saying goes, “scratch a liberal & a fascist bleeds”). Fascism is simply the other wing of ruling class politics— the bludgeon of unrestrained state/mass violence & repression that the capitalist class wields against the working class whenever they feel the need to. The ruling class are always the ones financing & propagandizing on behalf of fascism/Nazism when they arise, & this case is no exception. If anything it’s more naked than ever, with billionaire capitalists literally staffing the government, corporate outlets doing the fascist propaganda, & so on.
So basically, the way they’re trying to handle the crises they’re causing (from climate change to the crisis of capitalist automation & affordability) is by simply cracking down. Taking away our rights one by one, granting a far-right ruling class president dictatorial powers (as Project 2025 openly calls for), deploying the military domestically against anyone Trump deems “enemies from within” or “vermin,” which, surprise, means the left, labor organizers, anti-genocide/climate activists, & so on, dividing the working class against each other so they don’t organize against the ruling class (promoting hatred & lies to pit us against each other along lines of race, religion, ethnicity, immigration status, nationality, cultural signifiers, sex/gender, & so on)… The Dems have even hopped on-board with building the wall at this point, & Steven Miller’s far-right immigration policies, which is indicative to me that this isn’t about a few Mexican economically dislocated immigrants [we had net negative immigration from Mexico for much of the time when the GOP was raging about Mexicans “taking our jobs”]— it’s about the fact that they KNOW that by continuing to accelerate our fossil fuel usage, the ruling class is GUARANTEEING an unprecedented global climate refugee crisis beyond imagining, & they’ve decided they’ll maintain control in that chaos through brute authoritarianism, violence, & autocracy… Not even bothering to pay the cost of humanitarian assistance for the people who they’re condemning to having their homes subsumed by rising oceans (which alone is estimated to be 638+ MILLION people by the end of the century, if we DON’T increase our CO2 emissions but just continue at the same rate, whereas Trump plans to MAXIMIZE them), burned in wildfires, flooded in hurricanes, & so on… Instead, just gunning them down at the border or funneling them into cages…
