Cars are a fake mountain.
They are a useful one and are needed outside of cities but they are a fake mountain.
The sooner public transport, walking and things like bicycles become all that exist in cities the better.
Trains and trams have extremely few variables, if you want to automate something automate them.
The complexity is magnitudes less and since they can be directly connected to the grid you don't need as many rare metals to build and run them.
They get you all the benefits of electric cars and can move more people per meter then cars and roads.
Roads take up a ton of space and their moving potential of both people and freight per meter is miniscule compared to well made train lines.
