You touched on the pitfall in this video. An LLM is trained to pick the best-fitting response. It makes absolutely no bones about what that response is. If you ask it to give an argument and cite sources, it will do both of those things in total and complete isolation, with no regard to whether either makes any sense. Worst of all is if you tell it what you're trying to find, where in order to "avoid failing" will absolutely fabricate whatever you want to hear. The good news is that doing your due diligence will save you from its mistakes. But if you're going to conduct a ton of research anyways, why even start with a GPT?
