For years now, I have been dreading the prospect of entertainment (or worse yet: art itself) being overtaken by mindless AI """creators"""". Sure, it's kinda cool to receive an artpiece, poem or whatever tailor made by an AI for little to no money, but in the long run, is that really the world we want to live in? Where literally everything is just an amalgamation and indeed regurgitation of pre-existing stuff?
It's a creative deadend and it actually feels like watching art just die out as a concept. It's outright dystopian to think that eventually, watching movies or shows, listening to songs, looking at images we might not experience something where a single human being was actually involved in its creation. Instead it's just some AI pilfering vast collections of data and putting together stuff at random. There is absolutely no soul to it, no meaning.
I'll take any uninspired writer doing a formulaic, generic rehash of a collection of popular tropes and cliches over AI generated mush any day of the week. Hopefully, we don't end up in a future where Hollywood replaced all writers with optimized AI ghostwriters...
