The money is there to make the stability of UBI and free healthcare for all a reality and the motivation is there financially for companies to contribute towards ensuring the people still have the ability to afford their goods and services in this work scarce future they are creating. What forward-thinking progressives need to be doing is drafting the laws and regulations and proposing the very big changes to the safety net that can get the public and the billionaire class fully on board for UBI and free healthcare. And, though this is massively easier said than done, progressive need to find a way to not let Republicans/Conservatives highjack such reforms and weaponize them as wedge issues to further entrench the right in the habit of voting against their best interests. Don't let them call UBI a handout to the poor when a) it'd go to everyone but those who personally opt out (no state-level opt outs allowed), and b) it's a veritable necessity in the future we're headed for. Another thing progressives need to do to prepare is identifying the fields and jobs that are future proof and setting up schooling and training and work and entrepreneurship pathways in those directions for the young and for the old who lose their jobs to AI and automation. Don't get caught up fighting for the rights of horse and buggy workers to keep working in the face of the automobile revolution, forge a new way onwards that works within the new paradigm being established.
