Sorry my English is not quite up to speed and writing this has proven to be quite a challenge LOL There's something really important people fail to mention here; I do fractal art. I've followed the likes of MidJourney, Deep Dream and others. I've used those programs to assist me. The problem is none of the results are REALLY original. It's a combination of pictures and techniques gleaned from human artists. The example of the 6+ fingered hands is telling : AI doesn't understand fingers beyond the image but it knows how to draw them (better and better). I believe it's the same thing for all other types of artificial intelligence. It can understand how to create a story and it can understand how to write it in a human consumable form but it STILL copies humans. Sydney's story, while impressive (and creepy), is still just a story, and it sounds like perfect junk food to me. Ask yourself ... wasn't AI programmed to create content that would keep humans on the edge of their seats? Look at movies today. A large percentage of them are horror movies and are made to scare the bejeezus out of us. Sydney wrote that to perfection, didn't IT? Ask AI to write how it's going to squash you like a bug and it will consult the whole sci-fi / horror compendium and be happy to oblige, telling you it's letting you in on some dark secret. There's no doubt AI will eventually become uber powerful. Yet today I think it's still in it's infancy; even at such a young age it can convince most people it's already the king of the hill. I call bluff. 10 years of this however and it will beat all of us individually for sure (although look at self-driving; we've gotten really far but there's quite some work to be done before we can do away with human control. Even Elon was surprised at how hard it really is). The scary part, as fishy mentioned, is that the dataset used to program that AI is purely human. And humanity, while being a fascinating collective biological computer, is naturally flawed. It's actually the bridge between biology and pure intellect that is flawed. No doubt, in the end, we're creating what we call artificial intelligence ... to our image. How about we get our act together and program it based on a humanity full of benevolent, conscious of their flaws and full of good will individuals? "Your thoughts create reality" never sounded so good.
